Success Story – November 2024

Here at Yvette Mann Podiatry, we love to hear a success story and to know that in some small way we have helped. I received this message from my client post marathon and she has kindly allowed me to post it here in the hope that it might provide some motivation and inspriration to others!

Happy new year Yvette!

Apologies for such late contact but I wanted to let you know how I got on running the New York marathon back in November.

I did it!

The training and the run were incredible and definitely in my top 5 experiences of my life. The training went really well. – perhaps my favourite part. My plantar fascia disappeared about 5 weeks before the run! I attach a few photos of the final part of the run through Central Park and crossing the line. My time was 4hrs 37mins 29secs! I was hoping for 4-4.5 hours but I’ve learnt so much I know what to tweak next time.  I was also listed in the New York Times with everyone else under a certain time. In my age category 55-59 year men & women I came 438 out of over 11,000 runners! Having my husband and children there completed the experience.

I absolutely loved it and still can’t believe I did it.  I am now looking at the Berlin marathon this year (September) and am applying for a job with the Sports Tours company we went with so I can share my passion with other runners all over the world.

In the run up to the marathon, I ran the Big Half London half marathon in September and got a PB 1hour 55mins. If I can get a 1hour 53min half marathon it puts me in best time for age consideration of automatic qualification for the London Marathon…perhaps a goal for 2026.

Thank you for all your help and advise. I’m proud to say that I’m proof if you really want to achieve something (and your body allows it) you can do it.

All the best,

Natalie
